Randolph x The Brooklyn Circus: A Legacy Reimagined
History doesn’t sit still. It moves, breathes, and shapes everything that follows. Inspiring everything around it. Just like this campaign.
A Collaboration Woven from Legacy
Randolph and The Brooklyn Circus join forces for a new collaboration, one steeped in tradition and inspired by legacy.
This collection is all about shouldering the weight of the past and carrying that history forward. The weight of legacy is heavy, but it’s not meant to be buried, it’s meant to be shared.
So, let’s adjust our frames and look through the lens of history, to the story of the Golden 13, the thirteen U.S. Navy men who charted a new course of naval history.
The Golden 13: A Story of Defiance and Honor
The year was 1944. The world was at war, but not all battles made the front page.
Long before victory parades, before medals pinned to chests, before history books acknowledged their names, thirteen Black men stepped into a room designed to break them. They had been chosen, if you could call it that. Selected to be tested. A challenge issued by a military that had never seen them as leaders.
Did You Know: For generations, the highest ranks of leadership were closed to Black service members. The military’s official stance? They were unfit to lead.
In January 1944, the Navy began an officer training course for 16 African-American enlisted men. To ensure their failure, the normal training period of 16 weeks was reduced to 8 weeks for the black cadets. When they realized that someone in the Navy wanted them to wash out, the cadets covered up the windows of their barracks and studied all night. When they were tested, the entire group passed with high marks. Disbelief in the chain of command that an all-black cadet class could achieve higher scores than an all-white one meant that the black sailors had to suffer the indignity of retaking their tests. Again, all 16 passed; the class average at graduation was 3.89.
Their success was undeniable, yet the Navy hesitated. When it finally commissioned them as officers, their roles were symbolic, their authority limited. But symbols have a way of growing into something more. The Golden 13 forced the military to reconsider what was possible. Their existence alone rewrote the rules.
A Tribute in Craftsmanship
Design conveys a story. Designed in Collaboration with BKc every detail in this collection carries meaning:
- 22k Black Gold Frames: A first for Randolph, 22k Black Gold. The black and gold of the U.S. Navy’s most storied uniform, reimagined in metal. A symbol of those who wore it, and those who changed its meaning.
- Nimbus Gray Lenses: A name drawn from the storm-bringing Nimbus clouds, representing the power of change. And for those who recognize it.
- Temple Tip Detailing – Storm Onyx acetate temple tips, on both the Aviator and P3.
- Dual Branding – The Brooklyn Circus on the right, Randolph on the left. Two icons—one rooted in storytelling, the other in precision—woven together into a single statement.
Timeless in its construction, with every element carrying the weight of the story it represents.
"The goal was to craft something that speaks—to the weight of history, to the people who carried it, and to the ones still carrying it now."
A beacon of bold, barrier-breaking style in aviation, Amelia was HER. Known for her record-breaking achievements and gender-shattering feats, aviatrix icon Amelia Earhart’s legacy transcended the skies.
Did you know? Amelia was also a fashion designer. Blazing a trail from the Aviation Runway to the Fashion Runway, Amelia brought her revolutionary nature with her, elevating and empowering women's fashion through her designs.
This limited-edition collection is a fresh perspective on the legend herself, exploring her dual legacies in aviation and fashion. Discover more about her story in our dedicated blog.
Beyond the Frame: A Testament to Legacy
Randolph and The Brooklyn Circus share a philosophy, preserving history while creating something new. This collaboration is built on more than style; it is an intentional tribute to those who reshaped the history books.
Not tied to one era or belonging to one generation, this collection exists at the crossroads of past, present, and future. It’s a symbol of perseverance, crafted for those who recognize the power of history in their own journey.
A Salute, A Statement, A Story Still Unfolding
Some pieces are worn. Others are carried. This collection does both. It preserves history and propels it forward.
The Golden 13 left behind more than names in the record books. They left a legacy that demands remembrance. This collection stands in their honor, a reminder that history is not written by those who wait.
