Happy National Coast Guard Day!
Happy Birthday to the Coast Guard!
On today’s date in 1790, Alexander Hamilton and the US Congress established the “Revenue Marine”, the first seafaring service of the young United States. By the 1860s, the service became known as the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service, primarily serving the country by enforcing tariffs and custom duties in the nation’s seaports. In 1915, the Revenue Cutter Service was merged with the U.S. Life Saving Service to form the modern coast guard.
Randolph Engineering has been building standard-issue eyewear for the U.S. military since 1978. Our sunglasses are built to precise military specifications—MIL-S-25948, to be exact. Randolph Engineering continues to build the HGU-4/P Aviator sunglasses for the U.S. Army, Navy, and armed forces around the world. Thank you to all servicemen and women serving in the United States Coast Guard.
